Offering Amenity Spaces and Enriched Lifestyles
The Suminoe Textile Group, founded in 1883, is a pioneer manufacturer of textile for interior use. For more than 140 years since its founding, the Group has endeavored to manufacture and market better products through sustained efforts to remain sensitive to public needs and improve its technologies with the aim of offering people amenity spaces and enriched lifestyles.
Since we unveiled our fundamental environmental philosophy “KKR+A” (Kenko [Health], Kankyo [Environment], Recycling, and Amenity) in 1998, we have also been a pioneer in reducing the environmental impact of business activities. The ECOS® series of recycled carpet tiles, our main interior product series, is produced through a horizontal recycling process, where used products are recycled as materials for the same kinds of products. Made of a top-level percentage of recycled materials in the industry, the ECOS® carpet tiles are environmentally sustainable products that can help reduce CO2 emissions. We will continue our efforts to manufacture products that are friendly to both people and the environment in order to fulfill our responsibility as a manufacturer and help achieve a sustainable society.
We have also expanded our interior fittings business to space design and installation while developing next-generation automotive interior materials and high-performance fabrics in the automotive textiles and traffic facilities business, as well as creating original functional processing technologies that meet the current demand in the functional materials business. We have thus been pursuing businesses totally unique to us by taking advantage of our strengths in improving all kinds of spaces.
Currently, with 16 affiliated companies in Japan and 13 business sites overseas, the Suminoe Textile Group has been striving to become a global corporate group. With overseas employees accounting for about half of the total number of employees, we believe that we will be able to achieve further growth by building a system for leveraging diversity in values and work styles. We will facilitate close communication between management and employees and improve our labor system to create an open, favorable working environment, where all of us in the Group will unite to fulfill our shared vision.
While carrying out drastic reforms, we maintain our long-standing commitment to the production of arts and crafts textiles, including hand-woven carpets, which is Suminoe Textile’s initial business. We believe that preserving and refining these traditional techniques for hand-weaving, which constitutes a historical industry of Japan, is part of the mission and social contribution that we must make and fulfill, as a manufacturer that takes pride in its history of more than 140 years.
We will devote all-out efforts to earning healthy profits and matching the expectations of various stakeholders, including shareholders, by appropriately performing and further enhancing ESG management, which the Suminoe Textile Group has pursued so far. As a textile manufacturer, we will continue to tackle the challenge of creating state-of-the-art spaces with the aim of becoming a global company needed by society.
