Origin of Logo Mark
The origin of the Company dates back to 1883, when our founder, Denshichi Murata, began the manufacture of Wilton carpets in then Sumiyoshi Village and Suminoe Village (now Suminoe in Sumiyoshi Ward, Osaka). At that time, Osaka Bay was called “Chinu-no-umi,” meaning “the sea of chinu (i.e., black sea bream),” since it was a treasure trove of chinu and other various fish and shellfish. Osaka Bay was also home to many seahorses. In 1968, the logo mark symbolizing the seahorse was adopted, in association with Suminoe, the birthplace of the Company.
